How do you get the bad taste out of Camel Pack(hydration packs)?

Can you answer jnstambler’s question about Backpacks?:
i just got a camel pack for hydration, i cleaned it, then filled it up with water and started drinking and it tasted awful, the water tasted like it has ruber in it ,it was really, bad will this go away with time or is their an easier way

Backpacks Feedback: sometimes it will not even go away with time, but sometimes it can be taken care of with hot water, strong soap, and afterwards a good scrubbing out with white vinegar.

Oh well, then follow by several rinsings. Plus leave the bag open so it can breathe.
Backpacks Feedback: The taste will eventually go away. To make it go away quicker, just rinse it out with water. I wouldn’t rinse the pack out with soap. The water passing through your tube will soon taste normal. All new bags taste bad. I personally never really cared, but that’s just me.
Backpacks Feedback: Isn’t it a rubbery pouch thing? Rubbery tubing? You can’t get rid of the taste of the material itself (though it should dissipate somewhat.)
I’d use a diluted bleach solution (check the bleach jug for disinfection guidelines.) Maybe a tablespoon or so per quart of hot water. Rinse very well.
And keep that sucker clean once you start using it. I bet bacteria could set up quite a colony in there if you don’t disinfect it properly.

Backpacks Feedback: It will go away with time…however, wait till the one time that you forget about washing it. You’ll find it 3 weeks later and it will reek! I got rid of mine b/c it was such a pain in the a*s to wash.
When I did wash it, I usually just filled up the sink and did it there. Used dish soap and rinsed it really well. I had a special brush and a little insert to help it dry. Highly suggest these items.
